The Smartphone Show, London, UK - October 16, 2007 - The Smartphone Show 2007 kicked off today in London, UK demonstrating the growth and reach of smartphones around the world as well as new technologies to shape the future of mobile. An exhibition featuring seven cities - Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, New York, London, Beijing, Bangalore, and Nairobi - showcased the range of innovative Symbian applications in use today including mobile commerce, games, socio-economic development, enterprise, music and social media.

In his event keynote presentation, Symbian CEO Nigel Clifford, announced the following Symbian news and Symbian ecosystem announcements.

Symbian brings big screen effects and broadband to consumers' pockets with ScreenPlay and FreeWay.

ScreenPlay and FreeWay are ground-breaking technologies from Symbian designed to power the future of mobile computing. Offering dramatic enhancements in the vital areas of graphics and connectivity, they will be essential in driving the growth and reach of smartphones.

Symbian drives developer innovation with improved Symbian Signed processes and new books

Developing for Symbian OS™ has been made easier and more cheaper for developers worldwide with a new set of Symbian Signed criteria and procedures for testing and signing applications. In addition, two new technical guides were launched, Mobile Python, written by Jürgen Scheible and Developing Software for Symbian OS, Second Edition, written by Steve Babin.

Samsung strengthens open OS strategy and launches new Symbian smartphones

Symbian welcomed Samsung Electronics' commitment to Symbian OS as part of its open OS strategy by announcing and showcasing the latest Samsung smartphones based on Symbian OS: the Samsung i450, i550 and i560.
