10 February 2007 – Symbian Ltd. and Tele Atlas today launched AmiGO, a friendly smartphone application that is designed to make evenings at the 3GSM World Congress as stress-free and fun as possible.
Powered by Symbian OS™ and digital map data by Tele Atlas, AmiGO provides the perfect guide to get around Barcelona and connect with associates. Users can find out where their colleagues are, track down a local bar or locate the nearest points of interest in seconds. AmiGO will even help them order a coffee or beer in Spanish.
The application is available for download online exclusively from Handango at Symbian AmiGO. Once downloaded AmiGO will:
- Locate an AmiGO – shows the approximate location of friends based on mobile cell site information and maps displayed by Tele Atlas partner Geo Solutions
- Find the nearest recommended restaurants, bars and clubs – details of a select number of great bars, restaurants and clubs based on location provided by locals ‘in the know’
- Order a coffee or beer in Spanish – helpful phrases ranging from – ‘Where’s the nearest Taxi stand?’ to ‘Is that a smartphone in your pocket’
- Provide an opportunity for users to win smartphones and smart gear – a chance to win prizes every day at 3GSM. Twice a day prizes will be given out which include Symbian smartphones, Slingboxes, and vouchers for free application downloads from Handango.com*
The application will be available for download during 3GSM at key locations around the Congress site including: the Symbian Lifestyle Lounge (The Avenue AV91/92), Symbian Engagement Zone (Hall 8, 8A77), Tele Atlas (Hall 2, 2B69) and Handango (Hall 2, H208) stands.
The AmiGO application has been designed by Flash Cell Limited. For further information visit Flashcell.
*Each day of 3GSM World Congress we’ll be giving away a selection of the latest Symbian smartphones and applications as well as Slingboxes courtesy of Sling Media. Competition is only open to delegates visiting 3GSM World Congress. Please refer to competition terms and conditions in AmiGO application.
