London, United Kingdom, 3 October 2006 - Symbian Limited announces two new executive management team appointments with Jørgen Behrens as executive vice-president, marketing and Andy Brannan as executive vice-president, sales and customer operations.
At Symbian, Jørgen Behrens previously held the position of vice president, product management and strategy, where he was responsible for the roll out of the Symbian OS™ v9 family, with phones in the market since Q206, and for fostering strategic partnerships in the development of 3G reference designs as part of Symbian’s first milestone towards bringing Symbian OS into the mass market. Nigel Clifford, chief executive officer, Symbian, says, “Jørgen will oversee Symbian’s product plans and corporate strategy and lead the company’s marketing drive in bringing Symbian smartphones into a high-volume, lower-cost market and promoting the ecosystem for customers, partners and developers.” Before joining Symbian in 2003, Jørgen Behrens worked as a strategy consultant in the mobile industry for ten years, most recently as managing director of a mobile and consumer electronics strategy firm.
Andy Brannan previously held the position of vice president, sales and professional services, where his successes including licensing Symbian OS to major handset vendors around the world and securing in excess of 100 phone designs and as a result capturing more than 82 million units of shipments to date and 70% of the smartphone market. In addition to overall responsibility for Symbian’s sales team and professional services, Andy Brannan will now also oversee Symbian’s Japanese operations, operator relationships and technical support for licensees and semiconductor partners. Prior to joining Symbian in 2001, he spent eight years at Hewlett Packard in a variety of technical, marketing and sales roles.
