May 10, 2006 – Symbian Ltd. today welcomed the Nokia 5500 Sport featuring all the technology that every active-minded consumer needs.
The Nokia 5500 Sport, based on S60 3rd Edition and Symbian OS, version 9.1 has a single button to activate the three dedicated "modes" - a phone mode to stay in touch, the music mode (that can hold up to 750 tracks), and sports mode (with integrated pedometer to monitor distance walked or calories burnt). In addition, the Nokia 5500 Sport also offers "text-to-speech" technology, reading out text messages as they are received or to let you monitor distance walked or calories burnt when in sports mode.
The triband Nokia 5500 Sport (GSM 900/1800/1900) is scheduled to ship into stores during the summer (3rd quarter) of 2006 and is expected to retail for around 300 EUR before taxes and subsidies.
