Symbian welcomes Nokia’s new Nseries devices targeted at the digital home and multimedia users

November 2nd, 2005 – Symbian Ltd. today welcomed Nokia’s announcement that it has introduced three new Symbian OS™-based phones to its Nseries range of high performance multimedia devices. Symbian develops Symbian OS, the market-leading open mobile operating system for advanced mobile phones, also known as smartphones, that is licensed to the world’s leading handset manufacturers.

Analyst house, Yankee Group has predicted that there will be more than 300 million smartphones in circulation by 2009. Yankee Group also recognizes that Symbian is the market-leading provider of open OS software for the global wireless device industry with a 68% share of shipments to date in 2005.

The new Nokia N92, Nokia N80 and Nokia N71 deliver different mobile multimedia experiences to segmented consumer markets by combining the latest technologies with stylish design and ease of use. All these phones run on the latest version of Symbian OS v9 and the S60 3rd Edition.
