London – 17 June 03 - Symbian announced today that the Nokia 6600 launched in Helsinki yesterday is the first phone to be based on the latest release of Symbian OS™, the global open industry standard operating system for advanced mobile phones. The Nokia 6600 also uses the Series 60 terminal software platform.
Symbian OS v7.0s, was announced at Symbian’s Exposium03 in April 2003, demonstrated Symbian’s continued delivery of its technology platform in step with the market and technology needs of Symbian OS licensees and the broader mobile industry.
Symbian OS v7.0s provides significant enhancements in four particular areas:
