25 April 2003 – London, UK – Symbian Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Marit Døving to the post of Executive Vice President, Marketing. Døving will take responsibility for defining Symbian's product marketing, roadmap and strategy to ensure that Symbian OS continues to meet the current and future needs of both Symbian OS licensees and Symbian's industry partners.
Marit Døving joins Symbian from Consorte Group ASA, the Oslo-listed telecommunications networking solutions company where Døving has been Group Chief Executive since May 2000. Døving joined Consorte after two years with France Telecom's Danish mobile network operator, Mobilix AS (now Orange Denmark AS) where she was Executive Vice President of Marketing & Customer Relationships. Prior to this, Døving held posts with several Norwegian IT and telecoms companies including Telenor where she held a number of Board-level posts, most latterly as Executive Vice President and Executive Management team member of Telenor ASA, taking responsibility for all aspects of Telenor's market communications activities. Døving also gained five years' experience in senior management positions with Digital Equipment Corp, now HP.
Døving will take up her post on 1 July, 2003, and will be relocating to London from Oslo. Marit Døving is 46 years old and is married with a son.
