Samsung becomes Symbian shareholder

Samsung joins Ericsson, Matsushita, Motorola, Nokia, Psion, Siemens and Sony Ericsson as a shareholder

London, UK - 17 February 2003 - Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd and Symbian Ltd today announce that Samsung has become a new Symbian shareholder, strengthening Samsung's commitment to promoting smartphones based on Symbian OS. Under the terms of the agreement, Samsung will acquire a 5.0% shareholding in Symbian for a total consideration of £17.0 million. As a Symbian shareholder, Samsung will be represented at Symbian's Supervisory Board and will contribute its experience and expertise to the future technical and strategic development of Symbian OS.
