New York, NY and London, England, April 17, 2001 — Extending Emblaze Systems (LSE: BLZ) and Symbian’s leadership in the wireless market, the companies today announced that Emblaze Systems will join Symbian’s technology partner program which focuses on supporting companies that provide enabling technologies to complement the Symbian platform. Under the terms of the agreement Emblaze video players will be optimized for Symbian-based devices.
Symbian and Emblaze Systems will debut a showcase of Emblaze streaming video technology operating on Symbian-based Smartphones on Symbian . The site will include streaming video from Emblaze Systems’ content partners and is intended to demonstrate the flow of a real world multimedia application, showing revenue generating streaming audio and video applications over existing and future 2.5G/ 3G cellular networks.
According to Sasson Darwish, President Emblaze Systems Inc., today’s agreement highlights the leadership of the company’s Emblaze wireless media platform presenting carriers and handset manufacturers with the first working model on how to retain subscribers and generate revenue with wireless multimedia applications. “Today’s agreement is unique on a number of fronts,” Darwish said today. “Not only does it represent the coming together of two powerful and established technologies, it also demonstrates, for the first time, components of wireless and wireline marketing and technologies packaged seamlessly together in an viable revenue generating solution.”
