Infomatrix partners with Symbian to enable the mobile enterprise

Infomatrix file format converters allow mobile users to access email attachments

Cambridge and London, 15th June 2000: It was announced today that Symbian has entered into a development partnership with Infomatrix, the Cambridge-based specialist in wireless software solutions. Symbian, who has licensed its platform to companies including Ericsson, Motorola, Matsushita, Nokia, Psion and Sony, will incorporate Infomatrix file format converters for MS Office e-mail attachments, allowing the editing and viewing of spreadsheet and word-processor documents on the Symbian platform.

Nick Koiza, Infomatrix Sales & Marketing Director, said: "This important partnership will be a significant contribution to mass market take-up of wireless information services. E-mail attachments are an essential component of wireless information, and the need for easy manipulation and forwarding is crucial."

Catriona Galbraith, Symbian Partner Manager, comments: "Complementing Symbian’s reputation for providing easy-to-use and intuitive technology, Infomatrix extends the power of Symbian’s platform through wireless file converters."

Infomatrix is planning to extend its range of support for Symbian licensees, in order to accelerate the establishment of the Symbian platform as the de facto standard for wireless information technology. The further building of a Symbian-Infomatrix relationship reflects a commitment to promoting continuous development of emerging technologies for the Symbian platform.
