Mark Edwards joins Symbian as Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing

LONDON, Symbian Developer Expo (November 3, 2000) - Symbian today announced that Mark Edwards has joined Symbian as Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

Mark will manage Symbian's commercial division with global responsibility for commercial strategy, product management, licensing the Symbian platform and managing Symbian's commercial partnerships with content providers, network operators, enterprise companies and other partners in the wireless value chain. Joining Symbian's operations board, he will report to Colly Myers, CEO, Symbian.

"The appointment of Mark continues Symbian's focus on adding to its senior staff following the appointments of General Managers at our Swedish, Japanese and Cambridge, UK operations," commented Colly Myers, CEO, Symbian. "Mark brings 15 years of extensive knowledge, directorship and general management experience to Symbian, and has built high level relationships with global handset manufacturers and network operators."

Previously, Mark was Deputy Managing Director and Commercial Director for Psion Computers plc and part of the executive team that signed a joint venture with Motorola to produce new Wireless Information Devices. Mark was recruited into Psion by David Levin, Psion's CEO. Prior to Psion, Mark held Executive and Managing Director positions at a number of blue-chip companies. These include Microsoft where he was responsible for the UK launches of Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups, Hewlett Packard, and CRT Multimedia Ltd. where he was the founding and Managing Director. Mark was educated at Birmingham University where he gained a first class degree in Electronic and Computing engineering.
