Leopard Labs to provide content filtering and security solutions for Symbian smartphones

Leopard Labs Joins Symbian Platinum Program

Sydney, Australia, 07 May 2007 - Leopard Labs today announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for Symbian smartphones by providing innovative content filtering and security solutions to the Symbian ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the global market leading operating system for smartphones. Symbian OS is licensed by the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers, and to date over 110 million Symbian smartphones have shipped worldwide to over 250 mobile network operators.

Leopard Labs has developed content filtering and security solutions that enable carriers and handset manufacturers to protect and grow their highly valuable data revenue streams. The solutions are easy to deploy and manage and can be adapted in line with regulatory and social change. Carriers benefit from greater customer satisfaction and users having the confidence to subscribe to data services, safe in the knowledge that they have choice and flexibility in what content they, or their children, can access.

Symbian enables a thriving ecosystem of partners, phone manufacturers, operators, developers and other key mobile industry players that create value for the growing smartphone market. This value is cultivated by the continuing development and commercialization of new software solutions and award-winning applications for Symbian OS and its user interface platforms, including MOAP, S60 and UIQ.

Symbian OS is the market leading operating system for smartphones, with over 72% global market share, according to market analyst firm Canalys. With cumulative global shipments of smartphones due to pass the one billion mark by 2011, according to market research firm IDC, Symbian OS represents the biggest commercial opportunity in mobile.

"By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can expand our content filtering and security solutions and strengthen our relationships with Symbian smartphone users, application developers, smartphone manufacturers and carriers.”

“Whether it’s businesses protecting access to their corporate data or parents protecting their children from accessing inappropriate websites, content filtering and security solutions have become high priority for smartphone users and network operators around the globe,” said Jerry Panagrossi, vice president of US operations, Symbian. “The addition of Leopard Labs to the Symbian Platinum Program underscores our joint commitment to provide the safest possible mobile information exchange, both personal and business related, over Symbian smartphones.”
